From the President
On Sept 25th, 2024, the 2023-2024 Board of the MDSOMS completed its term under the Presidency of Dr Bethany Awalt with an educational day at Hayfields Country Club in Cockeysville, MD. Dr Deepak Krishnan from University of Cincinnati shared his wisdom on management of complex patients for in office anesthesia. The event was well attended and well supported by generous vendors. Before we adjourned, the 2024-2025 Executive Committee was introduced and I have the honor of taking the helm as president from Dr. Awalt. This past year, she did an incredible job of bringing the OBEAM course to Maryland and oversaw the transition to a new Executive Director with Maggie DiJulio’s retirement.
The newly appointed committee is fresh and eager to continue the Society’s mission to champion our profession and support members. Your membership is important but your attendance at the meetings is equally important. The Board is open to suggestions always and is actively planning for meetings in the coming year. Please be on the lookout for emails on dates, venues and speakers from Melissa Connor who is also completing a successful year as our new ED.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as President. I have big shoes to fill when I see all my predecessors but I am confident that you will all help support me in making this a remarkable year.
